Gear Up for Summer Campaign June 1 - July 1, 2023

The Gear Up for Summer campaign is being kicked off today and runs till June 12, the hope is to gather essential and fun summer items that we can utilize in our programs and distribute to children, youth and families of the North Central community to start off the summer.

For many kids and family’s summer is a time to take in the great outdoors, spending quality time with family and friends, exploring our community, attending events, camping and traveling.

Unfortunately, summertime can also be a very lonely and sad time for children, youth and families who live in poverty. Many children and youth who we serve are missing the social engagement, stimulation, activities, structure and food programs that schools provide and their parents or caregivers are facing even more expenses without those school programs.

What are we collecting(but not limited to): Sleeping bags, pillows, rubber boots, bubbles, coolers, tents, bathing suits, beach towels, rollerblades, giant yard games and more…

Poverty has lifelong adverse impacts on a child, and this campaign is all about putting smiles on the faces of these children and youth, giving parents/caregivers some peace and comfort and creating moments and memories that will last a lifetime and help kids just be kids this summer.

You can drop off items or activity packages at Northgate mall or the Capital Auto Mall, during their regular hours of operation.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Centre located at 2931 5th avenues, Monday – Friday between 9am and 2pm.
